Limiter

Sound Processing

A limiter is a compressor where the ratio is fixed as "Infinity:1"  and it is a fixed volume control tool with the setting of maximum volume to avoid any clipping caused by the signal dynamics or peaks.

Parameter Definition

Enabled

Enable/Disable

Enables or disables the DSP feature.

Threshold

-60 – 12 dB

The threshold control sets the level at which the limiter is engaged. It will be limited only when a level passes above the threshold. If the threshold level is set at say -10 dB, only signal peaks that extend above that level will be limited.
The rest of the time, no limiter will be taking place.

Attack Time

1 – 1000 second

It is the time how quick the limiter engages the limiting function.

Release Time

1 – 1000 second

It is the time it takes for the signal to go from the limited "or attenuated" state back to the original signal.
